Edinburgh Jazz Festival

The Edinburgh Jazz & Blues Festival has reached its 33rd year and from Friday 22nd to Sunday 31st July 2011 a diverse and exciting range of high quality jazz and blues concerts took place all over the city

Courtney Pine kicked off the festival and fabulous singer and saxophonist Curtis Stigers closed the festival ten days later. Over 90 events across 12 venues covering all jazz styles and lots of blues. The Edinburgh Jazz and Blues Festival may be 33, but it's as current and vital as ever

There were concerts in the New Orleans, dixieland and swing styles - Cecile Salvant, a hot young classic jazz singer; Dom James' young band bring class, panache and great musicianship to traditional jazz; and Laurie Chescoe's Reunion Band has musicans from the original trad jazz revival. The Festival also celebrated Louis Armstrong's music with the man who plays and looks like Louis - trumpeter and vocalist Leroy Jones. Scottish artists include Niki King, who celebrated the release of her New York produced soul-funk album

Amongst the highlights were stars such as Jack Bruce, Joe Louis Walker, Robert Cray, Curtis Stigers, Sherman Robertson and Trombone Shorty

With a range of special offers and tickets from only £5.00, there's something for everyone to enjoy, whether a jazz aficionado or experiencing jazz or blues for the first time

2012 dates confirmed - Friday 20th to Sunday 29th July 2012
